SSMC AAA Election of Board of Directors (Executive Committee)

The SSMC Alumni Association Abroad, Inc. is pleased to announce the formation of the Election Commission for the upcoming election of the Executive Committee for the term 2025-2027. The Election Commission will be comprised of the following members:

1. Dr. Faruque Ahmed – 6th Batch
   
   

2. Dr. Obayedur Rahman Khan – 11th Batch
   
   

3. Dr. Saqif Mohammad Tareq Hasan – 27th Batch
   
   

The Election Commission will commence its work on April 14, 2025 (1st Boishak, 1432).

Positions to be Elected:

The following positions will be open for election:

• President
  
  

• Vice President
  
  

• General Secretary
  
  

• Treasurer
  
  

• Cultural Secretary
  
  

• Young Physician/Scientific Secretary
  
  

• Social Secretary
  
  

• Four Members-at-Large
  
  

Election Timeline:

The Election Commission requests the following timeline for the nomination process:

1. Nomination Submission Deadline: Eligible members who wish to seek office must submit their nominations in writing to the Election Commission no later than May 14, 2025 (30 days from the announcement). 

2. Please submit your intention to run for office by emailing admin@ssmcalumniabroad.org. Include the following details: your full name, SSMC Batch and year of graduation, current membership status, email address, phone number, and the position you are seeking.

3. Validation of Candidates: The Election Commission will review and publish the list of valid candidates by May 19, 2025.
   
   

4. Nomination Withdrawal Deadline: The last date to withdraw from the nomination is May 25, 2025.
   
   

5. Election Negotiations: In the event that there are multiple candidates for any position, the Election Commission will attempt to facilitate a consensus among the candidates. If consensus cannot be reached, an election will be held as per the association’s constitution.
   
   

Eligibility Criteria:

As per our constitution and previous correspondence, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to run for office:

• Good Standing: Candidates must have maintained good standing with the association for at least the last two years, which includes the regular payment of dues and adherence to the association’s rules and bylaws.
  
  

• Dues Clearance: A final deadline for dues payment has been extended to April 30, 2025. Members who have not cleared their dues for at least the past two years by this date will be ineligible to run for office and will have their nominations invalidated.
